About Us

J.R. Maxwell wrote and spoke these powerful words – “ Teamwork Makes the Dream Work and Together we Can Do the Impossible”.

No statement has been more true than that one, as in 1917, Melvin Jones pulled together a group of business men to do as a group what they could not do individually. That was, to make their communities and their world a better place in which to live and to help those less fortunate be able to live just a little bit better. Lions Clubs International was born.

In 1925, a blind and deaf lady named Helen Keller came to the Lions International Convention to speak. She challenged the Lions to be her “ Knights of the Blind” and the strength for those who could not hear. The Lions purpose and challenge had now been born and direction, purpose and a challenge been given to us. And wow – have the Lions have lived up to that challenge and continue to today.

In 1983, a group of men in St. Agatha took up the same challenge and formed the – St. Agatha and District Lions Club. From that beginning until this current day, our members/our Club continue “To Serve” and be a “Beacon of Hope” for our local and world communities.

You will note some of the things we’ve done and participated in over the last 27 years as well as our calendarwith some of the things we continue to do to serve today.
